Our Annual Mass - August

Was a wonderful Celebration that brought us together at St Mary's Cathedral on the 14th of August.  The mass was beautiful and the hymns very moving as we were led by our choir.  Congratulations to Helen Cook and all who worked to bring this occasion together.  Our Chaplain, Fr Ray, affirmed us with his words.  One of the most joyous moments was when two of our members, both Mary, were presented with CWLA-NSW Inc State Life Membership Badges - well earned by these two most beautiful women.

130 people (mostly women) then headed to the Marriott for a buffet luncheon.  Many walked and talked their way there, others used less energetic means of transport.  Delightful food, good company and lots of chatter - what a fabulous way to spend an afternoon.  A happy feeling and many smiles were experiences.  Thank you to all the helpers and organisers.

National Council of Women NSW Award - August 2009

This year is the 113th Anniversary of the founding of The National Council of Women NSW. The first meeting is recorded as having taken place on August 26, 1896.

The National Council of Women NSW Award honours women who have made a significant contribution to the good of their community. This year our Immediate Past President, Moya Potts, was nominated for this award.

Moya has been involved with CWL since she joined the Marian Group in 1979 and has given of herself and her time for all those years.

JINGLE IN JULY

What a day! On a cold Tuesday in July members and friends (looking terrific in their festive gear) began our celebrating with champagne, followed by a baked dinner. With lots of talking and laughing, we tried to answer some tricky questions in the Christmas Quiz. Plum Pudding and Brandy Sauce was delicious and then the arrival of Santa and the Elves (Denise McCaffery, Helen Butler and Chris McKirdy).
A very merry dancing Santa distributed lollies and then the elves encouraged everyone to sing the carols. A highlight was Elf Helen sitting on Santa's knee singing "Santa Baby". Santa drew the raffle and 27 prizes were won! With homemade slices and chocolates, tea/coffee everyone agreed they had had a fantastic day (and did not need dinner). It was wonderful to share such happiness and Fr Chris Riley – YOTS will certainly be happy to receive a cheque from the day. Thanks to everyone for their help and many hands do make light work!

Opening Mass - 10 March 2009

Our year began with Mass in the "Chapel of Our Lady", Polding Centre. Father Ray Farrell celebrated Mass with us and introduced the General Intercessory Prayers prepared by the Council for Australian Catholic Women for International Women's Day.

Father led us in a simply beautiful Mass, a good start to our year!
